Honoring Inspector Marty Martinez: A Legacy of Courage and Commitment

Hatfield Federal Courthouse at 1000 SW 3rd Avenue in Portland, Oregon, during a period of intense civil unrest. Inspector Martinez was more than a law enforcement officer—he was a veteran, a protector, and a father. His journey of service began in the United States Navy and continued with the Army National Guard. After his military career, he joined the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service, where he served with distinction for four years. During the summer of 2020, Portland became a flashpoint for nationwide protests. The Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse, a symbol of justice and federal authority, was repeatedly targeted during these demonstrations. Federal agents, including Inspector Martinez, were deployed to safeguard the building and ensure the rule of law prevailed amidst chaos.
